Tracy Joy PhotographyTracy of Tracy Joy Photography has found a new niche market in the Chicagoland area, and she’s talking a little bit about it on today’s blog post.  She’ll also be teaching on it at Reset 2018, so if you’re interested in these types of sessions or expanding into this market, definitely check out her breakout class!
Hi Friends!
Tracy Joy here, and I am so excited to share my secrets to successful and bountiful FAIRYTALE sessions at the 2018 Reset Conference in Indy.
I wanted to share a tiny peek into my world, and my love for children portraiture… esp fairytale and dress up… and give away a great secret to my fairytale sessions.
As a mom of 2 little girls, ages 5 & 9, fairytales have become a part of my life.  Being a dream to most every child, they are my most enjoyable sessions…. for my clients AND myself!  Seeing each little girl pick out her own dress, trying them on, sparkles & glitter… and lots of imagination.  It is more than rewarding, and makes my heart pitter patter when their faces explode with smiles & giggles.. twirling away in their couture gowns from my stash!
The most important thing to my fairytale sessions, of course, is wardrobe!  I have a small collection of dresses… some are ones I can never part with, and others come and go. Let me tell you, it is NOT a cheap or inexpensive obsession… I meant, collection 😉
Dresses make it all happen, they spread the magic and let little girls feel like princesses for a day! They are a M.U.S.T. for my work, but not my wallet.
The best secret and bit of advice I can give you, SECOND-HAND DRESSES!
I have joined a plethora of online and Facebook groups, where photographers buy/sell/trade couture dresses, and it has SAVED ME!  Not to mention, it’s refreshing to get in new garments here and there (for me and my clients!)… and using the same ones over and over is pricey and redundant. So… join some groups, meet other like-minded “fairytale obsessed” gals (such as myself), and never be afraid to grab a second (or third or fourth!)-hand dress.
In fact… 3 of the 5 dresses you see here… are ones I purchased via resale. BOOM!
See you in April friends <3
