We have a super sweet treat for you today in the form of a VIDEO!!!  Wedding filmmaker Trevor Maloch of Maloch Media is sharing with us a film he recently did and sharing a bit of the story behind the couple.

“She’s the first person that has made me want to be a better man…” said Casey, the groom. I can honestly say this day has been one of my favorites this year to date. The couple definitely helped with that for sure. When I met Carley at Starbucks (Yummm!) for our first meeting to see if we were a good fit, I immediately got the impression that she was just ecstatic about marrying this guy Casey. The two met at ISU, not as students but as coaches, where Casey was a strength and conditioning coach and Carley the head cheer coach. By the end of our first meeting we were easily making jokes and meshed so well, it was looking very promising. Then she mentioned Kara Kamienski as her photographer (she shot my wedding by the way), and I was like “SOLD!”

I stayed to film all the ladies as they got ready at the house at Pear Tree Estate, while my 2nd Jeff went with the guys to a nearby hotel early in the morning. I am really enjoying letters that the couples write for each other beforehand, I’ll even have them tell their story of how they met, or something significant to what makes them, them. It truly adds something great to the couple’s film I believe. Their ceremony was held at the stunning Holy Cross Catholic Church in Champaign, IL where they had a family member of Casey’s side marry them. This makes for such a more personal ceremony and gives me some really killer audio bits to use for their film, because of how well he knew the couple. Oh! And they were just the freaking cutest during the ceremony too, just snuggling with one another the whole time. Seriously, loved it! Metaphoric gold for a wedding film. We set a 70-200mm lens on just them during the ceremony, and it worked perfectly. Such amazingly cute little actions from the both of them. I’m so glad I mic’d the groom too, for all their little comments throughout. This was one of my favorite Catholic ceremonies yet.

Then we headed back to to the beautiful Pear Tree Estate where everything is always on point (again YUMMM! I have in my contract, dinner is provided for places like this, ; ) hehe). Hooked up with DJ Ryan from Elite Entertainment to capture audio from the toasts. For my films this is a must, because I give my couples their full ceremony, toasts, and formal dances with every package. And having clean audio is seriously 50% of what makes good films, so I’m always trying to find ways to better myself in that area, just as much as with filming.

Having friendly vendors definitely makes everything so much easier. The day would not have gone as smoothly as it did without that positive collaboration amongst fellow peers in the industry. So I encourage everyone to be polite and build one another up to have the makings of a great wedding shoot. Hope you enjoy the highlight and thanks for stopping by.
