We wanted to learn a bit more about some of our married couples who have attended Reset. This year there were a few different husband-wife teams that attended together, and we think that is such an interesting dynamic for creatives!
Meet Jessica & Nathan Kraeszig. Jessica is a Reset veteran, but this year her husband Nathan wanted to come along as well since they are working together in their business. We let Jessica take the reins here so read on below to hear about their time at Reset 2017.
Hi guys! My name is Jessica. My husband, Nathan, and I shoot weddings and engagements together. We are a husband and wife photography team located in Indiana. In the previous years, I attended the reset conference with friends. This year, when I found out it was going to be located in our hometown, I was really excited! The Reset Conference has been an event I look forward to every year and this year I was going to talk my husband into joining me. He just didn’t know this yet :). When I told him about it, he was more than willing to join me!
We love shooting engagements and weddings together! We think of it as a date night! I mean, you dress up, have dinner, dance and we get spend the day together doing something we both love. We love our couples so much! We are incredibly lucky to have some of the BEST couples to photograph. Our sessions are filled with so much fun and laughter.
Bringing your spouse along on a wedding day has many advantages. He knows me the best and he always tries to stay a step ahead of me. He is my second shooter and my go-to helper for everything on the wedding day! He comes in really handy when it is time to find a place to hang the bridal gown. I’m not the tallest person in the world, so this is extremely helpful! I find myself as more artistic and he is more into the technological side of things. He loves the challenge of setting up flash for receptions. So, while he does that, I am typically shooting details. It works out perfectly!
We absolutely loved attending Reset this year as a couple! It was really nice to be able to share this experience together. In the past years, I would come home with all of these ideas and things that I wanted to implement into the business. I was always on a photographer’s high when I came home from the conference. This year, we shared this together. No seriously, we came home both nights and started jotting down all of our ideas on two HUGE white boards. They were covered with all of the information that we learned from the conference. Let the brainstorming begin! It was so much fun, staying up late talking about our business. We love being small business owners. The reset conference is a place to be surrounded by “your people.” The people that really get who you are and why you do what you do. It is such a great feeling! We all have the same passions and it was a place to just be yourself. We made some new friends and met up with ones we already knew.
It was the best weekend of the year for our photography business. There were so many amazing speakers! Kellie Penn and Rebekah Albaugh put on one AMAZING conference! It was nice to have my husband go home with the same feelings I have had from the past conferences. Lots of new ideas and goals to be met this year! One of the biggest goals to accomplish this year is networking with our vendors at the weddings we photograph. This is a big one, but I think we can do it!
We can’t wait until Reset next year! Every year is more amazing than the last. I’m not sure how that is possible, but it happens. If you are a photographer and haven’t been to reset, 2018 is your year! We will see you there!
