Welcome to the Reset Conference Alumni Testimony of the Week where we’re asking past attendees to use their own words to reflect on the Reset Conference and the impact it has had for them and their photography businesses. Read on to hear from Reset Alum, Kyla Jo Tighe!
Hi, Kyla! Tell us a little about yourself:
I am 25, live in Muncie, Indiana, and own my own photography business and studio. I have 2 doggos and 2 kitties, love the outdoors, shoot Nikon, and love to golf and listen to music.
Tell us your Reset story. Why did you decide to attend the conference?
This was my first year at the conference, and the main reason I attended was to learn newborn wraps and setups, so I focused on those courses.
What was your favorite Reset memory?
I cannot pick just one, I loved everything equally! I loved the variety though of the hands-on classes and the speakers.
What tactical takeaway or lesson stuck with you the most and reappears in your life now that the conference is over?
I would say listening to Hope Taylor was really inspiring! She was awesome and relatable! I also learned a lot from the newborn wrapping, when we actually got to hold a fake baby and wrap! I love being able to be hands-on.
If you attended a styled shoot or mentorship, what was your biggest takeaway from doing so?
I attended the wedding one Vanessa Hicks and the newborn one with Tara Ruby. I learned a lot with Tara, it could have honestly been longer! {Editor’s note: Kyla even had one of her photos from Vanessa’s shoot shared on Badgley Mischka bride’s Instagram feed & story!!}
Why should a photographer attend this conference?
A photographer should definitely attend Reset every year to learn and further their knowledge as the photography world is changing. You do not want to stay stagnant from your past education, whether that’s college or online courses. I attended college for 5 years and got my BFA in photography, but the knowledge you take away from the conference is completely different and so much more helpful as a commercial/studio photographer who owns and runs their own business!
Thank you so much Kyla Jo for attending Reset! To learn more about Kyla and her photography, follow her on Instagram! All image credits (not of Kyla) on this post to Kyla Jo Photography.
